Katlego Kopotsa
My name is Katlego Kopotsa from Seelane, a very small village in Burgersfort, Limpopo. I am currently studying towards a BSc honours degree in Medical Microbiology at the University of Pretoria. After my matric year, I was registered for a Sports sciences course and I was really interested in the biology part of the course and not the sport part, which made me realise I am in the wrong field. I then enrolled in a BSc degree majoring in Microbiology and Physiology. The first time I was exposed to the laboratory, I knew I wanted to become a good scientist one day. Growing up in a less privileged community has not only offered financial challenges but has also made me realise the value of education. I have always wanted to do my honours and more research in Mycobacterium tuberculosis, especially the diagnosis and treatment which are major health concerns in Africa. I would like to thank SAWISE for giving me a chance to bringing my dream into reality. I promise to work hard and make you proud. “Success is the result of perfection, hard work, learning from failure, loyalty, and persistence” Colin Powell.
