Thandeka Moyo
I was born in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe and have lived in Bulawayo all my life. My interest in science began to blossom in high school and especially my love for Biology. I took a special interest in human biology and became intrigued with human diseases; their causes and how to treat them and from the age of 15 I knew I wanted to proceed towards a career in Molecular Biology. I have been studying at Rhodes University for the past three years pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Biochemistry and Microbiology. In Honours, I intend to continue studying molecular biology but with a special focus on research in malaria as I believe as an African scientist, it is crucial to deal with and solve problems which affect millions of Africans every day. I intend on continuing in research after my Honours Degree and eventually entering into industry and use the knowledge and experience I have gained to provide strategies to combat malaria and other human disease.
